Josephine Kathleen of Kalamazoo (Flera) Steger, (the Polish Princess) age 94 died suddenly yet peacefully March 13, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Just one day short of her 95th birthday. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband "Georgie boy" finally. "Josie" was born in Kalamazoo, MI March 14, 1920 to Polish immigrants, Wicktor and Regina Flera. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School class of 1938 and worked 32 years in management for Liberty Mutual. She was a hardworking, kindhearted boss offering a smile to everyone she met. Spending the past 25 years making over 200 afghans for family & friends. She was united in marriage, August 31, 1940 to George Arthur Steger, the "love of her life" who preceded her in death November 1, 1963. She was a lifetime member of St Augustine Catholic Cathedral, Kalamazoo, MI. As the matriarch of the Flera/Steger family she outlived all her siblings, in-law siblings and cousins. --She is survived by sons Jerry Steger (Paula) of Oshkosh, WI. Terry Allen Steger of Kalamazoo, MI. Grandchildren Angela Jackson (Rob) of Kalamazoo, MI. Michael Steger (My-Hoa) of San Francisco, CA. Great-Grandchildren Luke and Josh Gunnell of Kalamazoo, MI. Step-Great Grandchildren Chris, Caylea and Gavin Jackson. Caring nieces Sr Betty Veehuis & Barb Soda of Kalamazoo, MI. She will be deeply missed and was loved immensely by many. Heaven will shine brighter now. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 at St Augustine Catholic Cathedral, Kalamazoo, MI. Visitation will begin at the church at 8:30AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Rev. Msgr Thomas Martin, Celebrant and Deacon Jim Nelson with burial immediately following at Mt Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Kalamazoo, MI.
