Wallace Franzoi, Sr., DDS

Wallace E. Franzoi, Sr., DDS of Kalamazoo, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at Maple Creek, The Woods in Grand Rapids. Dr. Franzoi was born Nov. 12, 1925 in Norway, MI the son of Arthur and Mabel (Zadra) Franzoi. Dr. Franzoi was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Dental Corp. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan Dental College. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, St. Monica Catholic Church and was an avid dancer, golfer and enjoyed bowling and a Detroit Sports fan. On June 23, 1951 Dr. Franzoi was united in marriage to the former Patricia Smokovitz who preceded him in death in 2012. Surviving are 2 sons, Wallace (Elsa) Franzoi, Jr. of Garland, TX, Patrick (Dana) Franzoi of Byron Center; daughter, Marcia (Phil) Knight of Alamagoldo, NM; 3 grandchildren, Garrett, Philip, Jr. and Joel; many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Janette Bianchi and Darlene Pembine. Friends will be received on Wednesday Sept. 3, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008, (269) 343-6156 where a rosary will be recited at 7:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Monica Catholic Church.
