Margery Frances Batterson

Margery Batterson of Kalamazoo, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Margery was born Nov. 20, 1922 in Vicksburg the daughter of Jesse and Francella (Brown) Riegel. She was formerly an administrative assistant with the Boy Scouts in Kalamazoo and was active in the Kalamazoo Ladies Library, Civic Players and the New Vic Theater’s and volunteered with the Kalamazoo Public Library. On Jan. 21, 1943 in Kalamazoo Margery was united in marriage to Miles Batterson who preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1992. Surviving are two sons, Michael (Leigh) Batterson of Portage and Ted (Jeannine) Batterson of Holt; 6 grandchildren, Brett, Miles Patrick, Cassandra, Benjamin, Philip, David Batterson; four great-grandchildren; sister in law, Barb Riegel. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Richard Riegel. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 9:45 am at St. Monica Catholic Church, Kalamazoo where friends will be received from 10-11 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.
