Elva Pauline Kennealy

Elva P. Kennealy of Kalamazoo, passed away Saturday July 12, 2014 at Park Place Living Center. Elva was born October 15, 1928 in Dowagiac the daughter of George and Edna (McCullugh) Land. She was employed by Continental Can Company in Three Rivers, Red Roof Steak House, and Humphrey Products. Elva was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. She was known as “Brownie” to her friends. She loved the Lord and served him by taking communion to the incapacitated. She is survived by a sister Eleanor Dunnington, and many nieces, nephews. She was one of 11 children, preceding her in death are 5 sisters, Marqueta VandeHoeff, Georgia Moorlag, Ella Lockard, Mary Babbitt, Katherine Beach; 4 brothers, William, Arkan, Charles and Doug Land. Elva will be remembered for her jovial wit and laugh and for her goodness to mankind and her love for the Lord. Friends are being received 1-2 pm Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where services will be held at 2 pm, with Rev. Msgr. Mike Hazard, officiating. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan. A loving thank you to her special caregivers at Park Place Assisted Living and thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff at Hospice Care of S/W Michigan.
