Margaret M. Pugh of Kalamazoo, passed away Thursday May 29, 2014 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Margaret was born November 2, 1921 in Kalamazoo to John and Irene (King) Dold. She was one of the first female chemistry graduates of Kalamazoo College in 1942 and worked for the Upjohn Co. where she met her husband Arthur Pugh. Margaret and Arthur were united in marriage in Kalamazoo on July 21, 1945; he preceded her in death in 1990. Margaret was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 17 years. She volunteered for Bronson Hospital, Westwood Elementary, and Angling Road Elementary. She was a supporter and season ticket holder at the Kalamazoo Civic Theater for over 60 Years. Surviving are 2 sons, John (Lyn) Pugh of Traverse City, David (Mae) Pugh of Cade, LA; daughter, Carol (Steve Scott) Carney of Jackson, MI; 2 grandchildren, Alexander (Heather) Hawley, Jessamyn (David) Foster; and 4 beloved great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Irene Hedges, Betty Dold, Jacqueline Dold, and Anne Rosecrans. Friends are being received Tuesday 11 am-1:30 pm at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008, (269) 343-6156, where services will be held at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Jim Dyke officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
