William Joseph Moreland

William J. Moreland of Galesburg, passed away Tuesday May 20, 2014 at Borgess Medical Center. William was born Nov. 6, 1924 in Kalamazoo the son of Loyola and Alice (Byington) Moreland. He was a WW veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. William retired as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 131 and St. Ann’s Catholic Church. On April 16, 1955 in Kalamazoo William was united in marriage to the former Irene Jurgensmeier who preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 2010. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Maynard, Donald and Edwin Moreland; 1 sister, Ruth Mary Balge. William is survived by 4 sons, Michael (Cal) Moreland of Climax, Edwin (Marybeth) Moreland of Climax, Daniel Moreland of Augusta, Kenneth (Karen) Moreland of Troy; daughter, Marilyn (James) Becker of Scotts; 4 sisters, Helen Pituch of Kalamazoo, Jean Klingel of Kalamazoo, Betty Maloney of Plymouth, Kathleen (Jim) Hatridge of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Friends are being received 4-7 pm with a rosary at 7 pm Tuesday May 27, 2014 at the Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East "G" Ave. Parchment, MI 49004, (269) 349-7735. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Wednesday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Richland with Rev. Fr. Christopher Derda, Celebrant. Interment will in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
