HOFFMAN, Gilbert J. Galesburg Passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at The Reflections Assisted Living in Battle Creek. Gilbert was born June 14, 1918 in Muskegon the son of John and Cora (Kessler) Hoffman. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Muskegon and Muskegon Business College. Gilbert was a founding member of St. Francis de sales Parish of Muskegon, a member of St. Augustine Cathedral, Hackett Athletic Boosters, and was inducted into the Hackett Athletic Hall of Fame. On April 18, 1942 Gilbert was united in marriage to the former Theresa V. Knizacky who preceded him in death on March 13, 2006, he was also preceded in death by a grandson Michael Miller and 2 brothers, George and John Hoffman. Surviving are 5 sons, Joseph (Elizabeth) Hoffman of Watertown, WI, Thomas (Barbara) Hoffman of Grand Rapids, William (Debbie) Hoffman of Normal, IL, James (Spring) Hoffman of Galesburg, Robert (Deborah) Hoffman of Strongsville, OH; 2 daughters, Mary Turner of Grand Haven, Patricia Hoffman of Ypsilanti; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends are being received Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm where a rosary will be recited at 6pm at the Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday at 10 am at St. Augustine Cathedral, Kalamazoo with Rev. Msgr. Thomas Martin, Celebrant.
