Morris Bernie Burget

September 28, 1922 — March 28, 2014

Morris Bernie Burget of Kalamazoo, went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2014 at the Battle Creek V.A. Medical Center. Morris was born on September 28, 1922.  He made his home in Kalamazoo the last 60 years.  He graduated from Decatur High School. He was a World War II veteran of the Army, served in the South Pacific, on Lyon Island in the Philippines having earned 2 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, and the Rifleman Medal.  He retired from Eaton Corp, after which he raised horses and rabbits. He was an avid hunter and farmer of his fruit orchard and garden. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge and a 4-H leader for 20 years. Morris was an honorable man helping out neighbors and friends wherever he was needed. On April 29, 1949 he married the love of his life Linda of 65 years who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia Ann Cripe of Bellevue and Sheryl Lynn Scramlin of Grand Rapids. Three Granddaughters, Joan (Doug) Skarzyniarz of Sterling Heights, Stephanie (Nick) Lewis of Kalamazoo and Rachel (Kasey) Tanner of Grand Rapids. Three Great-grandsons, Jack and Brennan Skarzyniarz and Alec Lewis. His parents Glen and Olive Burget an infant son, Glen Lee and Infant grandson, Paul Allen Cripe preceded him in death. Morris loved the Lord and attended Northbridge Baptist Church at 8824 Douglas Rd, where the family will receive friends on Friday April 4 from 2 until 6 pm. Celebration of life will be on Saturday April 5 at 1 O’clock pm, with Pastor Ray Brandon officiating. Interment will follow at East Cooper Cemetery with full military honors.
