Adrian DeWard, Jr. of Kalamazoo, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Plainwell. Adrian was born May 24, 1926 in Kalamazoo, the son of Adrian and Lydia (Baxter) DeWard. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Adrian worked as a landscape designer for many years, including WKZO and retiring from the John E. Fetzer Foundation. He was a member of Yorkville Community Church. Adrian attended Michigan State University. He enjoyed playing golf and tending to his rose garden. He would take the roses he grew to shut ins around town to brighten their homes. He was preceded in death by his wife Judith (Kindy) DeWard; 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Surviving are sons Timothy (Sherry) of Phenix City, AL, Pastor Rickford (Pamela) of Nacogdoches, TX, Jeffrey of West Palm Beach, FL, and Gregory (Suzanne) of Parchment; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday, February 9 from 2-4 PM at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East G Ave., 269-349-7735. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 10 at 11AM at the Yorkville Community Church, Richland, Pastor Shan Martin officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
