Mary Frances Ormsby-Trenkle

Mary F. Ormsby-Trenkle of Kalamazoo passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo, MI. Mary was born February 25, 1918 in Chillicothe, MO the daughter of Newton and Eunice (Hedrick) Ormsby. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Kalamazoo Bridge Club, Service Club (Junior League), and Kalamazoo Country Club. Mary earned a Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing at Northwestern University in 1944, where she met her loving husband, Ed Trenkle. On September 15, 1945, Mary and Ed were united in marriage. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Ann (Patrick) Reddy of Lincoln, AL, Susan Trenkle of Tampa, FL, Barbara (Richard) McQuigg of Grand Rapids; 1 son, Thomas (Su Festen) Trenkle of Burlington, IL; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Ormsby. Friends are being received Friday 5-7 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm at the Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008, (269) 343-6156. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 am at St. Monica Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery at a later date. www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
