Leonard "Bud" Leroy Hiatt

HIATT, Leonard “Bud” Kalamazoo Passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Sue’s Loving Care in Kalamazoo. Bud was born September 12, 1930 in Alden the son of Roy and Inez (Leonard) Hiatt. He graduated from Elk Rapids High School in 1949, then served in the U.S. Air Force until being discharged in 1954. He graduated with a BBA from WMU in 1959 and was a branch manager and Residential Property Appraiser for 36 years for Fidelity Savings Bank. Bud was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, KOFC #1616, Joseph Westnedge American Legion and the St. Mary’s Men’s Club. On August 8, 1959in St. Monica’s Church Bud was united in marriage to the former Patricia McKinney who survives. Also surviving are a son, Steve Hiatt of San Jose, CA; Michele Hiatt of San Jose, CA; daughter, Betsy (Steve) Beatty of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren, Eric and Sarah Beatty of Kalamazoo, Zane Hiatt of San Jose, CA. He was preceeded in death by 2 sisters, Dorthy Seger, Lyda Moore and a nephew Robert Seger. Friends are being received Friday from 4-7pm at the Parchment Redmond Funeral home, 2300 East “G” Ave. Parchment, MI 49004, (269) 349-7735. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James O’Leary, Celebrant. Inurnment will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
