Carl E. Kime of Kalamazoo, passed away Saturday December 7, 2013 at Kairos Dwelling. Carl was born the son of Elroy and Lillian (Kizer) Kime on June 11, 1926 in North Liberty, IN the same day the Ford tri-motor airplane called the Tin Goose was tested and flowing thus becoming the beginning of commercial flying in America. He received his bachelor's degree from Manchester University and his Master of Divinity from Bethany Theological Seminary in Chicago. Carl was a retired Church of the Brethren pastor and was carpenter. Carl was a member of the EAA Experimental Aircraft Association and built his own Jeanie's aircraft which took 40 years which was called the Jeanie Tennie, II was in a barber shop quartet and an actor for the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Civic. He was united in marriage to Jeanne Schrock who preceded him in death then to Judy Hart then to Shirley Standish-Weber who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons; Glenn (Lynn Pettipaw) Kime of Yorktown Heights, NY, Steve Kime of Ann Arbor; 2 daughters, Yolanda Kime of Saranac, NY, Ramona Kime of Marshall; 3 step-sons, Mike, Timothy, and Dennis "DJ" Weber all of Kalamazoo; 3 step-daughters, Ann (Ron) Elbing of Pigion, Tammie Weber and Tammy Perkins both of Kalamazoo; 2 brothers, Earl Kime of Mishawaka, IN and Russell (Joyce "Joy") Kime of Marshall, AR; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Donald, Elvin, Howard and Arthur; 2 sisters, Evelyn and Clariece. Friends will be received Saturday 10-11 am at the Skyridge Church of the Brethren, 394 S. Drake Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where services will be held at 11 am, with Pastor Debbie Eisenbise, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Skyridge Church, Kairos Dwelling or Heifer International.
