Marjorie Snell

May 31, 1925 — November 25, 2013

Marjorie L. Snell of Kalamazoo passed away on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Clare Bridge of Portage. She was born May 31, 1925 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of George and Sarah (Butts) Smith. Marjorie grew up in Romeo, but graduated from Almont High School. After a year of study at WMU, Marjorie worked in Detroit for the war effort. She met the love of her life, Robert Snell, while working in Ann Arbor for the Univ. of Michigan. After marrying in 1947, they moved to Kalamazoo. Marge will always be remembered for her love for her family and friends, sharp wit and great sense of humor, and her sense of STYLE! She loved music, little creatures, golfing with her lady friends and, most of all, Bob. After 66+ years of marriage, she will be sorely missed. Surviving are her husband Robert Snell of Kalamazoo; two sons Mark (Debbie) Snell of Broomall, PA and William (Nancy) Snell of Kalamazoo; one daughter Julia (Michael) Lave of Nashua, NH; sister Jean Grasser of Rochester, MI; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and five step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Smith. Visitation and funeral services were held on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Redmond Funeral Home in Kalamazoo, and interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. If desired in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the YWCA of Kalamazoo. www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
