Myrtle E. Thompson, of Kalamazoo, went to be with her Lord on November 10, 2013. Myrtle was born in Lawrence, MI in 1918, the oldest daughter of Lloyd and Lyda (Sheppard) Wright. Myrtle attended high school in Bangor, MI. In 1935 Myrtle married Wesley Thompson and moved to Chicago. The couple later moved to Pascagola, MS and then back to Kalamazoo. Myrtle worked in the shipyards during the war in Pascagola. While residing in Kalamazoo, Myrtle worked at Monarch and Sutherland Paper Mill. Later, in a joint venture with her husband, she worked in the apartment rental business. Myrtle was a member of the Westwood Church of God in Kalamazoo. Myrtle is survived by her 2 sons, Robert Carlyle (Jeanie) Thompson, of Paw Paw, Barry (Carol) Thompson of Lawton and 1 daughter, Jackie (Robert) Laylon of Kalamazoo. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Randy, David, Rick and Deborah, Tasha, Blair and Shane, Kim, Jeff, Pam and Heather. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Myrtle leaves 3 brothers, Paul (Bonnie) Wright, Earl Wright, and Lloyd (Donna) Wright, and 1 sister-in-law, Susan Wright. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Thompson, her son, Ronald Thompson, 2 sisters, Joan Carpenter and Marjorie Bullerdick, a brother, Darwin Wright, a brother-in-law, Charles Carpenter and a sister-in-law, Carol Wright.
