Patrick Raymond Sweeney

Patrick R. Sweeney, passed away October 14, 2013 in Mecosta, MI. He was born in Detroit, MI on December 21, 1930 the son of Manuel “Mike” and Geneva (Doyle) Sweeney. He was employed at Fisher Body Plant as Personnel Director. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea. Pat was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Parchment, MI, Knights of Columbus Council #1616. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame sports and a supporter of his grandchildren’s activities. On Sept. 8, 1956 in Detroit, Pat was united in marriage to the former Judith Johnson who preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2007. Surviving are 3 daughters, Kim (Rod) Runyan of Buda, TX, Sharon (Tom) Bennett of Portage, Susan (John) Lierman of Holt, and son Kevin Sweeney of Holland; sister, Shirley Sweeney of Mecosta; sister-in-law, Arlene Sweeney of Mecosta; brother-in-law Jerry Bown of Milford; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Sweeney and a sister Mary Bown. Friends will be received Friday October 18th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm, with a rosary being recited at 7pm at the Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East “G” Ave. Parchment, MI 49004, (269) 349-7735. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday October 19, 2013 at 11am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Father James O’Leary celebrant. Burial will be Monday 11 AM in St. Michael’s Parish Cemetary, Remus, MI. Memorials may be made to Michigan Heart Assoc or American Cancer Society
