Gregg E. Stover of Kalamazoo, passed away Saturday September 14, 2013 with family at his side. Gregg was born January 14, 1939 in Detroit the son of George and Bonnie (Vigland) Stover. He received his Undergraduate and Law Degree from the University of Michigan in 1964. He began his Law practice in Kalamazoo with Fox, Thompson and Morris. He retired in 2009 from Lake, Stover and Schau. Working in downtown Kalamazoo gave him great pleasure. He was a long time member of the Michigan Bar Association, Torch Club and Outlook. As a board member of Family and Children Services for more than 40 years, Gregg was integral in the continued growth and success of the agency.He was a dedicated board member of Green Leaf Trust, BCIU (Research protocols for Bronson Hospital) and the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. Gregg was a highly respected personally and professionally because of his warmth, integrity and expertise. On January 2, 1965 in Dayton Ohio, Gregg was united in marriage to the former Bridget Ann Curran. In Kalamazoo they settled in a centennial farm house with a barn that he lovingly restored bringing him much joy. Gregg and Bridget were generous hosts. They welcomed family, friends and exchange students into their home. His vacation home was in Benzie County, Michigan, his mother’s birthplace. This connection to his Norwegian heritage sparked his interest in geneology. This was the place he was able to truly relax. In addition to vacation time with his family he enjoyed swimming, sailing, hiking, skiing, tennis and biking. Humor was an important aspect of his daily life. Gregg was preceded in death by his wife Bridget on October 18, 2009 and his parents. He is survived by 2 daughters, Cindi (Rich) Frederiksen of Chelsea, Jena (Eric Wagner) Stover of Kalamazoo; 2 grandchildren, Emma and Ryan Frederiksen; sister, Kay (Mark) Ethridge of Charlotte, NC; brother David (Jeannette) Stover of Seattle, WA, several nieces and nephews. Cremation has already taken place. Friends are being received Thursday Sept. 26, 2013 from 4-6pm at the Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S.
