Gladys E. Caron

Gladys Caron passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the home of her son, Gary, with her family at her side. Gladys was born January 10, 1922 in Mendon, MI, the daughter of Elwin and Mildred (Tomlinson) Weberg. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, where she was past president of the Ladies' Sodality. Gladys graduated from Three Rivers High School and Western Michigan University, and formerly was employed as a school teacher. Later she became an assistant catering manager at WMU, retiring in 1986. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Lloyd Weberg and Mary Ellen Brakeman, and in 1951 by her daughter, Kimberley Ruth. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, E. Louis Caron; their five children, Paul of Asheville, NC, Jeffrey of Vicksburg, MI, Melanie of Kalamazoo, MI, Gary of Richland, MI, and Todd of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 9:30AM to 11AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 939 Charlotte St., Kalamazoo, where Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM, Fr. David Grondz celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Reverence Hospice, 348 N. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
