Barbara E. DeBoer

Mrs. Barbara E. DeBoer passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. She was born February 19, 1928 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Lester and Dorothy (Rector) Burgwald. She was a member of Haven Church in Kalamazoo. She loved to bowl in the Senior League at Eastland Bowl and she was employed with James River before her retirement. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Deboer in 1990, son Kirt DeBoer, USMC, and siblings Florence Burchett, Walter, Frank, and Robert Burgwald. She is survived by her children, Donald (Rosemary) DeBoer of Galesburg, MI, Darlene (Bill) Pierce of Mattawan, MI, Robert (Erma) DeBoer of Plainwell, MI, and Randy (Kathy) DeBoer; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; siblings Eugene (Lucille) Burgwald and Jim (Marge) Johnson of Kalamazoo, Norine Knowlton of Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 3:00PM at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East G Ave., 269-349-7735, with inurnment in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society, Disabled American Veterans, or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
