Mr. H. Dale Capman of Kalamazoo passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. Dale was born January 18, 1926 in Sturgis, MI, the son of Kenneth (Cappy) and Anna M. (Hoover) Capman. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Charles E. Brannon DE446. He married Carol Ford on June 14, 1946 in Kalamazoo. Dale was employed as a tool and die maker for many years in many different industries ending in the automotive field. In 1971 Dale and Carol moved to Bear Lake, MI where they owned and operated the Melody Inn for 13 years. Every Friday and Saturday night Dale would play the organ for the dancing pleasure of their patrons. Dale's love of music bagan as a teenager with him playing in an accordion band on the local Kalamazoo radio station. Dale continued to play the organ until a month before his death. Other interests of Dale's were hunting, fishing, bowling and golf. As a life member of the VFW he served many years as post commander of the Kaleva post #6333. Everyone that knew Dale soon realized he placed a great deal of value on honesty and integrity. In death Dale is survived by his wife Carol of nearly 67 years. Also surviving are their children Gary (Barb) Capman, Allen Capman, and Connie (James) Subacz, all of Kalamazoo; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; siblings Michael (Monica) Capman of Muskegon and Sharon (Al) Sikkenga of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East G Ave., where funeral services will take place on Monday, June 3 at 11:00 am, Pastor Jonathan Loper of Greenwood Reformed Church officiating. Private interment will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park North. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rose Arbor Hospice and Hospice Care of SW MI, 222 N.
