Norton James Young

Mr. Norton James "Jim" Young passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in Kalamazoo. Jim was born February 7, 1953 in Kalamazoo, the son of Norton E. and Erma (Oras) Young. He was a Parchment High School graduate and a welder by trade. He is survived by his wife, Gayle (Cooley) Young, and their children David (Tiffany) Young of Kalamazoo, Linda (Angelo) Deperis of Oregon, Jill (Trevor) Paul of Kalamazoo, and Charlotte (Brock) Tinkey of Parchment; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jim was a hard working Christian man who loved his family and friends. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, model railroading and tending his rose garden. He will be missed. Friends will be received Monday, June 3, 2013 from 12Noon to 2PM at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East G Ave. Interment with graveside service will follow at 2:30PM at East Cooper Cemetery, Riverview Dr. @ D Ave. in Kalamazoo, Pastor Herb Hutchinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jim's family c/o Redmond Funeral Homes.
