James F. McManus of Portage passed away Saturday May 25, 2013 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. James was born July 19, 1938 in Toledo, OH; the son of James, Jr. and Joann (LaCost) McManus. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Phi Kappa Psi at both the University of Toledo and Colorado University. And was a Member of St. Monica Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #1616 of Kalamazoo; he was employed by Coca-Cola, and then retired as a self-employed salesman. On September 5, 1964 in Lima, OH, James was united in marriage to the former Judi Blust, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, James (Jodie) McManus of Delton, Shawn (Jill) McManus of Hudsonville, Brian (Michelle) McManus of Portage; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Megan Paulson of Coco Beach, FL and Kate McManus of Grand Lake, CO; two brothers, Terry (Kay) McManus of Parker, CO and Kevin McManus of Arvada, CO; brother in law, Frank Brainard of Littleton, CO; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tracy Brainard. Friends are being received Thursday 5-8 PM at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008. (269) 343-6156.
