Jack James Heighton

Mr. Jack J. Heighton passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his home with his family at his side. Jack was born May 5, 1920 in Mount Vernon, OH, the son of James and Vera (Bort) Heighton. He proudly served his country as a front line medic in World War II, and also served in Korea. Jack was a life member of Comstock VFW Post 6252. He was always a patriot and loved America. He retired from National Water Lift in 1984. Jack enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and bowling but his family brought him the most joy. He dearly loved and appreciated them all. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Cheri, and son Michael. He is survived by his wife, Donna, whom he married January 22, 1977; daughters Julie (Bob) Frame of Newark, OH, and Joni (Steve) Woolson of Findlay, OH; stepchildren Pattie (Buster) Brown of Athens, MI, Sandy Lincoln of Battle Creek, Steve (Katie) Cook of Kalamazoo, Denny (Mary) Cook of Gun Lake, Angie (Doug) Santee of Plainwell, and Perry (Ann Marie) Cook of Gun Lake; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends and family will be received Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 11AM-1PM at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East G Ave., 269-349-7735, where services will follow at 1PM, Pastor Mike Tupper of Parchment United Methodist Church officiating. A luncheon at the Comstock VFW Post 6252, 5990 E. Michigan Ave., will immediately follow the service. Private interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery is scheduled for Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 2:30PM. Arrive at the Cortege Assembly area by 2:15 please. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
