Carolyn Ann (Barclay) Sullivan of Rochester Hills, MI, formerly of Kalamazoo, passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 30, 2013 doing one of her favorite hobbies, gardening. She was born March 28, 1938 in Duluth, MN, the daughter of Glen and Lucille (Maurer) Barclay. She was a secretary for Dr. James H. Simonds, DPM, for 23 years until relocating to Rochester Hills, where she was office manager for her son-in-law Carl's medical practice. Carolyn was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Her hobbies included volunteering at her local senior center, knitting, making cards and gardening. Carolyn is survived by her children, Cindy (Dave) Johnston of Kalamazoo, Teri (Carl) Shermetaro of Rochester Hills, and Cathy (Mike) Hogan of Scotts, MI; four cherished grandsons, Michael, Nick, Jake, and Luke; sister Vivian Dean and brother Robert (Cora) Barclay; very special friends MaryAnn Weston and Mary Lou Bienz; several nieces and nephews, and her granddogs and grandcats. Friends will be received Monday, May 6, 2013 from 10AM-12Noon at the Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East G Ave., where services will follow at 12Noon, Rev. James Dyke officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
