Perry Allen Stuart

July 4, 1953 — April 4, 2013

Perry Allen Stuart passed away peacefully on Thursday April 4th, 2013 surrounded by loved ones at Hoard Manor, his home. He was born July 4, 1953 in Kalamazoo, the son of Harry and Virginia (Weston) Stuart and was the youngest of five children. Perry was a huge fan of rock and roll music (especially oldies,) and collected thousands of 45 rpm records over the years. He was a very spiritual person, and made a profound impact on everyone he met. Although his reading skills were limited, he drew comfort and strength from his Bible, which he kept close during the many trials and tribulations he faced throughout his life. Visitors were often amazed to find relevant and inspirational passages of the Word highlighted by Perry himself. Since he was born on the Fourth of July, Perry always gathered his family and friends at Hoard Manor for a “Perry Party” to celebrate not only the birth of our nation, but his own birthday as well. Perry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harry Stuart, Jr., and a nephew, Matt. He is survived by his brother Alfred of California, James of Tampa, FL, sister Ellen Deal of Paw Paw, step-father Ted Thornton, also of Paw Paw, his uncle Paul Weston of Gobles, several nieces and nephews, and the residents and staff of Hoard Manor, his ROI family, where he resided for 38 years. Friends will be received Monday, April 8 from 12Noon to 1PM at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge, 269-343-6156, where funeral services will begin at 1PM, Pastor Douglas King officiating. (For those attending, please wear something red, Perry’s favorite color.) Interment in the family plot will follow at Kendall Cemetery in Kendall, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hoard Manor, 305 W. Cork St., Kalamazoo, MI 49001. www.ResidentialOpportunities.org. Perry’s family would like to thank ROI and the Hoard Manor staff for their loving and compassionate care. www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
