Kathryn Bernadine Badgley

Bernadine died February 27, 2013. She was born in Nebraska on February 11, 1919, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Fitzsimmons) Fischer. She was a Customer Service rep at Consumers Energy. Bernadine was a lifetime member of St. Augustine Cathedral where she was involved in Workers of Mary, Catholic Daughters and ran the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop. She was Senior of the Year , having been nominated by Gov. John Engler; she was also a Red Hatter. Bernadine was married for 59 years to Theodore Badgley who preceded her in death on October 22, 1997. Also preceding were a brother, sister, sister-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law. Surviving Bernadine are 2 children and their spouses, Kent and LuAnn Badgley of Otsego, and Marlene and Wendell Morton of Richland; six grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Ken and Betty Fischer, Rex and Maggie Fischer, John, Patrick, and Jerome Fischer, and Donafae Daam, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday, March 3 from 6-8PM with Rosary at 7:30 at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge, Kalamazoo. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 4 at 10:30AM at St. Augustine Cathedral, Kalamazoo, Msgr. Thomas Martin, celebrant. Burial follows in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Diabetes Center or the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Chris, Jessica, and the rest of the girls at Dussia House for the loving care they gave Bernadine.
