Maxine Bessie Sage

Mrs. Maxine Sage passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013, in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Sage was born September 11, 1920 in Barry County, MI, the daughter of Fred W. and Effie (Minegar) Gile. Maxine enjoyed gardening, golf, and traveling with her husband; they managed to visit all 50 states! She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and daugher-in-law Dorie Reed. She is survived by her husband, Leighton R. Sage, to whom whe was married for 63 years; nine children: Skip (Pat) Reed of Scotts, MI, James Reed of Grand Rapids, Ken (Cathy) Reed of Vicksburg, MI, Sandy Griffin (Lisa Wilkerson) of Kalamazoo, Ron (Sue) Sage of Three Rivers, MI, Bruce (Sheryle) Sage of Kalamazoo, Wayne (Marcia) Sage of Portage, Terry Sage (Laurie Haner) of Kalamazoo, and Kevin (Myong) Sage of Kalamazoo; 26 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; 2 daughters-in-law, Julia Sage of Kalamazoo and Barb (Jerry) Elkins of Middleville, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Saturday, March 2 from 10-11AM at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge, Kalamazoo, where services will follow at 11AM. Entombment at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South will follow services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Healthcare Center, 3625 W. Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
