Richard Frederick Ostericher

Richard Frederick "Rick" Ostericher, 66, of Kalamazoo passed away suddenly on Friday, February 15, 2013 while vacationing. Rick was born March 17, 1946 in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Frederick and Gertrude (Andrews) Oesterreicher. He graduated from Arthur Hill High in Saginaw, MI, obtained a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University in 1969, and his Masters from Western Michigan University in 1977. Prior to his retirement, Rick was a sales representative. Rick obtained his private pilot's license and was an avid flyer for over 30 years, enjoying the company of many friends over the years at AZO's South "T's." He loved exploring the outdoors, meeting new people, riding motorcycles and bikes, volunteering at Loaves & Fishes, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and relaxing with his wife on Beaver Island. Rick is survived by his loving wife, Susan Poppe; his father Frederick; his two children Scott (Carrie) and Troy, sons of Karen Hiler; and two granddaughters, Leah and Elaine. Friends will be received Saturday, March 23, 2013, from 1-3PM at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes, 901 Portage St., Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
