Mrs. Claretta Prior passed away peacefully Thursday, February 14, 2013 at White Oaks Assisted Living in Lawton, MI with her children present. Mrs. Prior was born December 17, 1918 in Huntingburg, IN, the daughter of Felix and Cora (Yeager) Sermersheim. She was a longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Portage, where she sang in the funeral choir. She loved sports and was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Notre Dame. She followed all sporting events of her grandchildren, and enjoyed watching sports on television. Claretta was also known as the "Avon Lady to many of her friends and family. Claretta was reunited with her beloved husband Garnett Prior on Valentine's Day. They were married 31 years until his passing in 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, and 2 sisters. She is survived by her children Barbara (John) Baltmanis of Paw Paw, MI, and Joseph (Diane) Prior of Schoolcraft, MI; her grandchildren Amy (Bryan) Edwards, Julie Baltmanis, Kimberly (Bryce) Ingram, and Michael Prior; sister Joan Fuhs of Huntingburg, IN, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation Sunday, February 17 from 5-8PM with Rosary at 7:30 at Redmond Funeral Home. Second visitation Tuesday, February 19 from 5-8PM with Rosary at 6:30 at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, Indiana. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, February 20 at 10AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntingburg, Fr. Larry Richardt, celebrant. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of SW MI or St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
