Mrs. June A. DeFORREST, of Kalamazoo, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 in Kalamazoo. June was born June 21, 1916 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Edward and Esmer (Simons) Poulsen. She attended St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Portage. She had worked in sales at JC Penney and at Colonial Bakery. June was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley DeForrest, her daughter Barbara Coleman, 2 brothers and a sister. She is survived by her children Betty Birdsall of Portage, Jay DeForrest of Stratford, ON, David DeForrest of Sarasota, FL, and Carolyn (Dave) Bonselaar of Portage; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren; one brother, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 10-11AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre, Portage, followed at 11AM by Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. Stanley Witek, celebrant. Interment in Portage Central City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to June’s family for her final expenses.
