Howard E. Pickett, of Kalamazoo passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Wyndham West. Mr. Pickett was born April 9, 1915 in Allegan, MI, the son of Frank and Mary (Redmond) Pickett. He retired from Michigan Bell in 1978. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, in the Usher’s Club, and the Holy Name Society. Howard enjoyed helping others and serving his community. He spent 8 years on the Comstock School Board and 16 years as a 4-H Community Leader. Howard loved to play golf at Eastern Hills, and served 8 years as a board member of the Kalamazoo Men’s Golf Association. On June 10, 1939, Howard married Lucille Hook, and they spent 66 happy years together until she passed in 2005. Also preceding in death were his parents, two brothers, Robert and John, and a sister Florence. He is survived by his children and their spouses Patricia (Dennis) Knudsen, of Mason, MI, Robert (Cathy) Pickett of Plainwell, MI, John (Brenda) Pickett of Kalamazoo, MI, and Linda (Jack) Teutsch, of Niles, MI; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Friday, January 25, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge 269-343-6156, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 26 at 11AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St., Msgr. Michael Hazard, celebrant. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kalamazoo.
