James Perry age 88 of Kalamazoo, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at his home. He was born October 26, 1924 in Alexandria, LA, the son of Charles and Zephyr (Dauzart) Perry. He served his country during WW II in the US Navy, Asiatic/Pacific Theatre. James was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Parchment. He retired in 1989 as shipping supervisor at LSI-KALA in Kalamazoo. He enjoyed gardening and watching movies. He married Esther Spiller, who preceded him in death January 25, 1983. Also preceding were son James D. Perry in 1952, brother Charles, and sisters Pearl, Zephyr, Rose and Mateal. James is survived by his daughters Esther Brenda Wagoner of Bushkill, PA, and Michelle Perry of Kalamazoo; two granddaughters, Karen and Cheryl; a brother, William J. Perry of Los Angeles, CA, close friend Carol Gouin of Kalamazoo, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10AM at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East G Ave., 269-349-7735, where a Scripture Service will follow at 11AM, Fr. Dan Hyman officiating. Private interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kalamazoo. The family wishes to thank St. Ambrose Ministry to the Sick for their support.
